Arjen is a Dutch director who first started his career as an editor for international promo campaigns for Discovery Channel and MTV. In this role, he mastered the art of the perfect cut, building suspense and intrigue while working under the constant time pressure of television. With a background in Film Studies, however, the desire to create and determine the images himself became increasingly important. He began with Music Videos and artistic projects, later expanding into commercial work. Over the years, he has created numerous Brand Films, Commercials, Visual Experiences, and Advertising Campaigns for clients such as LOTUS, MITSUBISHI, SMART, ASML, HEINEKEN, AEGON, KEUNE, and SAP. A common thread in his work is his strong ability to humanize technology and products. For him, a commercial doesn’t always have to be happy – it can just as well be unexpected, dramatic, or deeply emotional. His work is also characterized by a strong international spirit and a slightly elusive layer, always visually aesthetic and portraying humanity in its most powerful form – whether that lies in beauty or fragility.
